History

The Dutches initially made Yachts in the 14th century. This is used to catch pirates on shallow waters as it is very useful due to its speed and light weight. Not long before an Englishman, Charles II of England recreated the use of this vessel and popularized it as the way it is now. Charles II built at least 20 yachts in his lifetime. Many people consider him as the first yachtsman ever.

Yachts are then considered a vehicle for the Kings, so after, popular rich men also decided that they had to have their own too. Sports also had been incorporated with the use of this vessel. Races would be started to entertain common people and the Rich as well. They then transport your yacht to different places and start races in other towns and villages.

First “American” Yacht

The first American yacht is not to be confused with. The owner is an Englishman who traveled to the New York harbor and invited people to form a syndicate to build him a yacht that aims to beat every yachtsman in Europe. It was named America and sailed on May 3 of 1851. It sailed the Atlantic ocean, and when it got back to Europe, no other Yachts wanted to race against it. It finished eight minutes ahead of its closest rival in a free-for-all 15 contestant race in the Isle of Wight. The race since then was named America’s Cup in honor of the yacht that won it.

Nowadays, yachts are already powered by enormous engines. Sizes vary widely, ranging from as small as 20 feet long to as massive as 600ft. Many classifications of yachts had also been established, such as Day Cruiser Yachts, Cruising Yachts, and Luxury Yachts. Depending on the type, they may have cabins, equipment, and some even have amenities such as pools, helipads, and alike.
