If you want your child to learn how to read then you need to teach them in a special way. When children learn in a special way, they get more interested, and when they master skills, they will always want to learn more. These are the methods that are put in place in book clubs. Encourages Critical Thinking

Whereas most children may be reading for pleasure at a young age, they have not typically started fully exploring the texts. Book clubs have regular literacy classes where the main elements of a story are introduced to students. These include the plot, setting, and characters.

Understanding books, however, goes beyond this. Book clubs venture into character motivations, themes, metaphors, and the relationship between antagonist and protagonist. These discussions are done in a way that children can access and gives them room for uncovering the story as a team. They are, therefore, encouraged to push themselves and grow as learners and readers through such practices.

Provides Accountability

One of the key elements of book clubs is discussion. The discussion depends on all the kids having read and understood the books. At times, they can be inclined to skim a story or read some passages to have a general idea and prove they have finished their work. This is especially true when children are assigned books that they are not interested in or those they get confused about. A book club will create space for kids to ask questions, talk, and interact with their peers on a level that they cannot when reading at home or school. The kids are separated into groups, which means less commitment level making them feel safe and enjoy.

Nurtures Love for Reading

Clubs are usually meant to bring together a group of people to learn and discuss things that matter to them. Book clubs are not different. They are meant to invite groups of kids to read and discuss stories from various genres. This gives them a chance to discover what kind of books they love most. Children usually do not explore literature because of the misunderstanding of what is contained in them. When children discover genres that excite them, they will be inclined to spend more time in them. Different stories are taken into account hence providing kids with the agency to talk about what they love.
